Audi is presenting diesel like you’ve never experienced it before. With the new V6 TDI engine, traditional diesel power is blended with cutting-edge electrification — delivering 220 kW (299 PS) and 580 Nm of torque in the Q5 and A6. The outcome is an elevated driving dynamics that’s impressively efficient.

This isn’t just another engine upgrade. Featuring the MHEV plus technology and a brand-new electrically powered compressor, you'll surely be impressed by the seamless blend of powerful acceleration, lower emissions, and smart electrification.

Electrification That Elevates Every Drive

Audi’s MHEV plus mild-hybrid system adds up to 18 kW (24 PS) of extra power without replacing the diesel engine. Thanks to the belt alternator starter, powertrain generator, and lithium iron phosphate battery, the car delivers extra punch, can glide on electric power in certain situations such as slow city traffic and during parking maneuvers. Additionally, fuel use is kept in check.

The belt alternator starter fires up the engine and charges the battery, while the powertrain generator adds torque for overtakes and initial acceleration. During deceleration, up to 25 kW of energy is recovered back into the system — smart efficiency built into every stop and go.

Electrically Powered Compressor: Turbo Lag Eliminated

Behind the scenes, turbo lag is eliminated as the electrically powered compressor works alongside the turbocharger. The result is immediate power and a smooth push every time you accelerate.

Running on the 48-volt system, the compressor spins up to 90,000 rpm in just 250 milliseconds, reaching maximum boost nearly a full second faster than before. There's no denying — with the MHEV Plus on board, pure responsiveness behind the wheel is guaranteed. With a lively mid-range power, instant takeoff, and a drive that feels almost electric, merging on highways or powering through overtakes feels effortless.

Sustainable Fuel for a Greener Drive

The best thing is: performance doesn’t mean compromise. This engine runs on HVO 100 fuel, a sustainable diesel that is made from used cooking oil and agricultural by-products. Using HVO can reduce CO2 emissions by 70% to 95%, either as a blend or 100% pure fuel. Every new Q5 and A6 leaving Audi’s German plants is already fueled with HVO, letting you drive responsibly from day one.

The Future of Diesel, Electrified

The V6 TDI with MHEV plus and an electrically powered compressor proves that diesel can be powerful, efficient, and smartly electrified. With three electrified components, faster boost pressure buildup, and sustainable fuel compatibility, Audi has redefined what a diesel engine can deliver. Diesel performance and electrification aren’t opposites. Together, they create a driving experience that’s dynamic, efficient, and forward-thinking.
